We took a boat that went around the Southern half of Manhattan island. I probably wouldn't do it again, but we enjoyed the beautiful sunshine and the relaxing ride. A slower way to see the skyline.
The Chrysler building

Check out this driving range right on the water. I guess there
is nowhere else to golf on a crowded island.

The Brooklyn bridge

Grand Central station

The lighting is really dim so my pictures didn't turn out that well, but it was a beautiful building. It is massive and everything is marble. It is something not to miss if you go to NYC, you just have to see it for yourself.

The clock in the middle of the terminal

It is always more impressive to see something in person and that
was definitely true for the Statue of Liberty

Ellis Island
A few facts I learned:
1. They checked every immigrants eye for a highly contagious disease using a button hook (ow)
2. Immigrants did not arrive to Ellis Island on the steamships they were transfered to ferries on the Manhattan island
3. Single women were not allowed to leave the island without a male relative
4. Many single men that came to America sent for brides through letters, therefore many weddings took place on Ellis island (given fact 3). Since they had not previously met their husband-to-be some just got back on the ship and went home. :)
5. If the immigrants were denied entry to the states or had to be held for some reason the steamship had to pay for their food while on the island and their transportation back. Due to this the steamships inspected all the immigrants before they boarded to try to weed out anyone they didn't think would make it on.
6. You can not actually ride up to Ellis Island on a jet ski like in the movie "Hitch", they would shoot you before you got that close. Good to know.

I was surprised how beautiful the building was

We heard all these stories of Mothers bringing their small children over once their husbands had got established in America and I was amazed because I barely want to fly with my kids.

The hall through which thousands of immigrants passed each day. It was on the second floor and doctors watched them walk up the stairs as a quick way to evaluate their medical condition.

All the subway signs and so

me art in the subway were mosaic tile.

Loved this cuban restaurant
Cafe Habana - they had the best

corn.

Just had to throw this one in from the plane ride from Seattle to Pasco
